Hello all,

Firstly an apology. It’s been a while since the last update. It has not been without reason. We had been hoping to make a big announcement about a Charity and funding of the challenge but we never managed to get the agreement over the line. We as a team had a discussion and it was agreed between us that to make the start line fully prepared and to give us the best chance of breaking the record we need to defer the row until 2020. This allows us time to ensure that the Boat is fully prepared with the best kit and gives us the time to do promotional work for the event and sponsors.

The positive side of the news is that this is a great time to get on board with the Atlantic 6. We currently have all packages available and up for grabs. You could name the team, Have the Boat named after your company and/or have your logo on the Boat. You could also feature on our website and our social media pages. If you get on board now we will as a result have a full calendar year to promote your business and attend events with the Boat. We are also in the process finalising details to film our preparation as well as the event itself.

We aim to be the most interactive Atlantic crossing ever. We will be producing live blogs from the Ocean and have a shore based team to  give regular updates. We also have ever strengthening media contacts. You can get in touch with us using the links on the home page if you want to know more and speak to the crew. We have not been sitting idle since the last update. The Boat has been worked upon by Leven Brown. Many of the crew have been taking part in events and challenges. Stephen has been busy as usual. Taking part in a running event over in the emerald isle. It does seem that no matter how many events that he does he never quite manages to work out the right point on the forehead to pull a hat too. Some would say that the more of his face that is covered the better but I couldn’t comment:-

Stephen has also recently announced that he is to team up with Callum Gathercole to paddle from Devizes to Westminster in April 2019. Callum was the youngest person ever to row the Atlantic Ocean solo. He rowed it as a teenager. When I was a teen I couldn’t iron my own shirts. That really is quite an achievement for anybody let alone at that age! Their paddle should be quite a challenge but I have no doubt that they will achieve their goal. We will keep you updated with the details.

Sean has taken part in an indoor rowing race up in the North East as part of a 3 man relay team. There were some strong teams present.  Despite being part of what was a short notice scratch team that had been put together they managed a 2nd place finish. He’s also recently clocked his 5 millionth metre on the Concept 2 indoor rowing machine. The same distance as the first Atlantic crossing. The metres on the Concept 2 were a lot more comfortable however. Less flying Fish!

He’s also been checking out the boat of a North East based crew that are due to set off soon to compete in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (TWAC) 2018. Here is a pic of him with their boat at a fundraising and publicity event in Wylam:-

The boat belongs to team Tyne Innovation. Atlantic Six would like to wish them a safe and speedy crossing. Many of the crew of Atlantic Six are heading out to La Gomera in early December to see the start of the TWAC 2018. We have hired a Yacht to stay on and plan to spend some time tinkering with the boats and talking about rowing in general. These weekends and meet ups are useful in swapping hints and tips. There’s no such thing as too much knowledge. The TWAC was the first event that many of the crew took part in. Every member of the Atlantic Six has rowed the Atlantic before as part of this event and it holds fond memories for us all. If we can do anything to help any of the crews while we are out there then that is a bonus. I’m sure that we will add a few pic’s to our social media pages from the trip. Watch this space.

We have a number of events planned for the coming months. We also have meetings planned to progress our campaign. As usual I would like to ask you to please share our page, website and posts. If you know anybody who works for a business who could benefit from advertising with us then please have a word with them or let us know and we will send them a prospectus. Many thanks for reading and following us.
